The Pyramid
In this model that i made, the design concept was inspired and is a Structural
analogy to the great pyramids of Giza with a contemporary spin. The model was designed to be a utilitarian public building that can be either designed into a museum gallery, bus stop or a shelter where people can interact in.
Process
I have first made the design on sketchup to gain
clear understandings on the precise dimension and degrees that was needed to
build this. The front of the building is a equilibrium triangle while the side
is a right angle triangle. Becoming the structure that holds the building together.
material used:
-hard cardboard painted in
white. i decided to use this color because as journeyed through my experimentation process, i have discovered that white is most effective in its ability to capture light and shadow.
Design concept
Through Photoshop I then reimagined the model into a gallery museum where the subtraction of wall allow the interior space and the outer to blend together. Allowing art in the museum becoming public art and become one with the context around it. I have then also reimagined the model into a bus stop. Where it can become a shelter for people to rest and enjoy the views around them.
Model as a gallery museum
Model as bus stop, a shelter to rest
Model as a public installation with opaque glass plane walls, changing the effect of onto the model.

Reflection
Through the process and journey of making this model, i have learnt how structural and form can communicate ideas such as emotions and user experience in the built environment. The pyramidal structure of this building is a structural analogy to the great pyramids which i was inspired from and i wished to convey a sense of spirituality in the work, with a contemporary spin. The open space creates a void in the building creating the inner space and outside environment to connect together and allow natural light to come through. Allowing the building to connect with the context around it, thus able to evoke different atmospheres and emotion to the people around it depending what environment it is placed in.
